A slice of my childhood

I grew up with gen 1 Pokémon, games and all. Absolutely adore this set! This set uses a lot of Technic elements for the skeletal structure. While not a fan of Technic, it was still an enjoyable build. However, I would say it is a more complex build than average. I would suggest a teenager could put this together - younger children may need some assistance. I would consider this more a display piece than play set. It's well designed and structural sound, but you wouldn't want to move this thing around much. The entire half of the ball, when opened up, is supported by a technic beam. The biggest draw to this set is, in my opinion, the minifigures and single-molded I grew up with gen 1 Pokémon, games and all. Absolutely adore this set! The biggest draw to this set is, in my opinion, the minifigures and single-molded Pokémon creatures. Red and Professor Oak are certainly very iconic characters in the video game franchise, with Picnicker being an interesting choice as it is a generic figure that can be battled in the game. I hope it signals that Lego will continue to release more minifigures from the world. The Pikachu and Eevee molds are phenomenal. I am a bit biased as a life-long fan, but overall I think this is a great set, even if very pricy.
