Beautiful, but flawed.

I'm kind of torn about this watch. It is truly gorgeous. I love the color and style. BUT, my elderly eyes simply can't read the date circle without a very bright light, which makes it impractical in normal use. I haven't actually worn it yet, but the leather band is quite thick and stiff. I suppose it will be very durable, but maybe not as comfortable as a softer strap. One other gripe, although a fairly minor one: setting the weekday dial is ridiculously hard. You need to wind the watch 24 hour to change the day by one. And each spin of the crown advances the watch less than an hour. My sample came with the day on Thursday, and my local day was Wednesday. I would have had to wind the watch through 144 hours to get back to Wednesday (by which time it would probably be Friday). Better to just pull the crown out so the time stops advancing and wait until the calendar catches up. (Oddly, the date indicator advanced even though the time didn't).
